Eyes are the windows to the soul. You can tell a lot about a person by looking at their eyes, such as their happiness, sadness, and even actual mood. The eyes also show the many signs of aging; if the aging process has taken its toll on your eyes you can be sending the wrong message about your feelings toward people. Sagginess of the upper or lower eyelids can make you look tired, disinterested, or just add years to your face. These changes can be due to time, eye movement, or heredity. With new surgical techniques there are ways to enhance the look of your eyes and take years off of your face.

Why You?
Everyone develops certain signs of aging; however there are some signs that can be turned back. Existing bags can be aggravated by allergies, overwork, and fatigue. Above and below the eyelids is a layer of fatty tissue that protects the eye, surrounding this fatty layer is a membrane that holds this tissue in place. Over many years this membrane can thin out and the fatty tissue can herniated, or protrude out. This protruding out causes the baggy look that occurs on the upper and lower lid. Are you a candidate for this procedure? Well any healthy person regardless of age who has drooping eyelids or fat bags is a good candidate
The Procedure
The new surgical technique to decrease those signs of aging is called Blepharoplasty. This is a simple surgical procedure that is performed in the outpatient setting. There is no general anesthesia, which means there is decrease cost and decrease down time. The procedure involves two incisions either below the eyelid for lower blepharoplasty or above for upper blepharoplasty. The incisions are hidden in the creases so that over time the scar is very minimal. Depending on which area is done the procedure usually last one to two hours. Fine lines and wrinkles can be treated later with chemical peeling.
Post Procedure
The recovery time for this procedure is minimal requiring approximately one week for recovery. The incisions heal quickly due to the great blood supply in the face. Your eyes would be swollen for a few days following the procedure which is normal. If you do wear contacts you should plan to leave them out for about two weeks. Bruising and swelling are the most common side effects.

Blepharoplasty is a simple, safe procedure that can be performed on an outpatient basis and with minimal down time. If reducing the signs of aging is something that you are interested in, please call today for a free cosmetic consult with Dr. Kayal.

First time ever at a dermatology office! So I was a little nervous... But they have a very friendly staff and it was nice meeting PA Joel! Felt comfortable and he was informative & made me feel like I wasn’t the only person dealing with my issue. I can’t wait to see some results and get some relief!!

I’ve been going here awhile. I’ve got a few pesky issues, some due to my not allowing areas to completely heal, sins that prolongs my already glacier like speed healing! I really appreciate Dr. Kayal and Joel who combine to take of me and my family.

Was greeted upon my arrival, very nice waiting room, was taken back immediately. Very professional, caring and friendly staff. They want to help you. The PA Joel was very knowledgeable and knew exactly how to help me. I was given a prescription to address the problem. Will be back with other issues, keep up the good work.
